Welcome to week 7.

This week is our last week of swimming. Pool closes on the 20th of March. A reminder to those of you who purchased pool keys to please return them ready for next season.

Wacky hair day
This Friday the 20th of March is  'Wacky hair day' at school to support the Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. Come to school sporting your weird and wonderful wacky hairstyles! If you would like to support this cause a gold coin donation would be appreciated.

Headlice
We have had a case of head lice in Ngā Puna. Please have a quick check through your child's hair and treat accordingly if necessary.

Keeping in Touch
A reminder of a few ways to keep in touch with the latest news at school. We also have daily reminders on the whiteboard outside Ngā Puna in the morning, as well as our 'weekly reminders' on your child's reading log.

For alerts to your mobile phone 
Text follow waimairischool to 8987 (Spark & 2 Degrees only).
Getting messages from school app
Vodafone have stopped supporting TXT messages on the 8987 service. To make sure you can all still receive alert messages from school we are now using a dedicated app which pushes notifications to your smartphone.
1. Download the FLEXIBUZZ app for Apple, Android or Windows phone.
2. Select ‘allow' push notifications if asked.
3.Register yourself as a user.
4.Use the menu in the app to find Waimairi School.
5. Tick the 'Whole School' box.
6. Go to the inbox.

 Kia Ora families. Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we moved into our junior  Ngā Puna space at the end of last week. Yet again the resilience of our children and willingness from them to accept change is just outstanding. You should feel very proud of them all. We had a wonderful day in our new setting today. It was lovely to re connect with friends from the beginning of the year and with our other Junior teachers.   Our children walked through our lovely new building today to make connections with things that are the 'same' and things that are 'different'. The general consensus was people are the same, places are different! They did so well.  This Friday the 30th of October is our offical opening of our new school with ribbon cutting and all! Term 4 - Week 9

 Kia Ora Whanau. Welcome to Week 9 of our 10 Week Term. We are doing lots of reading and checking in class this week so reading folders will not be coming home each day. A reminder to continue to bring togs to school daily, particularly as the weather seems fabulous! Welcome to Hazel Ware who starts in Nga Puna this week. Lovely to have you with us Hazel you big 5 year old! A few reminders.  Friday - hotdog day, the last one for the year! Friday - bike day Togs daily Last day of school 18th of December 12:30 Term 1 starts on Wednesday February the 3rd Easter holiday is April 2 till April 6 incl. Friday April 16 is a Staff only day and the beginning of the holidays Term 2 begins on May 3 July 9 is a staff only day and the beginning of the holidays Term 3 begins on July 26 October 1 is a Staff only day and the beginning of the holidays October 18 is the start of Term 4 December 16 is the final day of the 2021 school year Have a lovely week all. Picnic at Edgar Macintosh Park tomorrow? (Friday the 18th) - Message from a parent.

  Kia ora koutou, Please see a lovely invitation for a get together after the assembly tomorrow. Unfortunately the teachers can’t attend as we still have to be ‘at school’ til 3!! Thank you so much to the parents who had this idea  a couple of nga Puna mums are going to have a picnic and paddle at Edgar Macintosh park tomorrow following the final assembly. All welcome. Would you consider sending a message to the nga Puna parents for anyone that is keen?
