Term 4 - Week 3

 Kia Ora families.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we moved into our junior  Ngā Puna space at the end of last week. Yet again the resilience of our children and willingness from them to accept change is just outstanding. You should feel very proud of them all. We had a wonderful day in our new setting today. It was lovely to re connect with friends from the beginning of the year and with our other Junior teachers.

Our children walked through our lovely new building today to make connections with things that are the 'same' and things that are 'different'. The general consensus was people are the same, places are different! They did so well.

This Friday the 30th of October is our offical opening of our new school with ribbon cutting and all! It starts at 1:30 pm. You are welcome to take your child home early after this event. See the note below for more info.

Also below is a copy of the note sent home today.

Have a lovely short week all.

As usual please come and see us for any questions or queries.

We are here to help.

Kia ora parents and whanau,

Wow, what a magnificent day we have had in our “new” building and junior specific learning environment. You can all be so proud of the way your child has adapted and managed the new situation and routines.

For the rest of this week, the teachers and staff will be ensuring that the children are comfortable and knowledgeable about how spaces are to be used and the expectations about behaviour, using resources and packing up etc. This means that we will be relating to the children and available to answer questions and reassure. As we are doing this, there will be no reading folders home for this week. A different type of learning – no less valuable.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to make the learning spaces and staff strengths more beneficial to all the children.

This means that Tina and Sue and Vanessa will work together in one of the teaching neighbourhoods and Fiona and Lynley will work in the other double space. In each of these spaces are two teaching areas and “ora’ mats. This gives us the flexibility to work in a wide variety of ways.

We have had a small ‘shuffle’ of ora groups, and the teacher that is on the mat at the start of the day, is your child’s ora teacher until the end of the year. Of course, we are all able to tell you about things, pass on messages and ‘care’ for your child. We do ‘supervise’ all the children through the day.

If you have any questions or queries, feel free to ask your child’s ora teacher, Lynley or Mike.

Thanks so much for your patience, understanding and trust in us during this “unprecedented” year! Here’s to a smooth ride for the final eight weeks.

Ngā mihi

Lynley, Fiona, Sue, Vanessa and Tina
