Term 3 Week 2

Welcome to week 2 of our 10 week Term.

We had a terrific start to our Term last week in Nga Puna. The children were straight back into the swing of things and our newest members have done a marvellous job at following our regular routines of the day. Being comfortable with the routines and regular events of everyday is an important part of being in  Nga Puna. So lovely to see our tamariki showing such confidence in this.

We will continue to work on our Topic of 'Belonging' this week during learning choices (Connecting to people, places and things). One way we do this is to help foster and encourage connections between children through common interests. If you both enjoy the same thing, how about playing together? Making room and including others into play are just some of the sorts of things we help children negotiate during learning choice times.

Monday Morning Meetup 
Our regular whole school Meetups are back up and running again. 8:50 every Monday in the school hall. All welcome.

Parent helpers 
We are after 2 parents helpers to help out every Monday In Nga Puna with gluing notices into books and shelving reading books. Please come and chat to us if you would like to know more. It's one of those jobs that really is such a time saver for teachers and is so appreciated.

Dates and reminders

  • Tuesday's - Kapa Haka with Matua Steve
  • Friday's - hotdog day -  orders from the school hall before school $2.50 We take the Nga Children kids over and assist with the 'getting' of the hotdogs at lunchtime
  • Friday's- bike day - bring your bike and helmet. Teachers out supervising during learning choices
  • Thursday 27th of August - School Photos
  • Friday 25th of September  - Last day of Term 3
  • Monday 12th of October - Staff Only day 
  • Tuesday the 13th of October - First day of Term 4

 Kia Ora families. Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we moved into our junior  Ngā Puna space at the end of last week. Yet again the resilience of our children and willingness from them to accept change is just outstanding. You should feel very proud of them all. We had a wonderful day in our new setting today. It was lovely to re connect with friends from the beginning of the year and with our other Junior teachers.   Our children walked through our lovely new building today to make connections with things that are the 'same' and things that are 'different'. The general consensus was people are the same, places are different! They did so well.  This Friday the 30th of October is our offical opening of our new school with ribbon cutting and all! Term 4 - Week 9

 Kia Ora Whanau. Welcome to Week 9 of our 10 Week Term. We are doing lots of reading and checking in class this week so reading folders will not be coming home each day. A reminder to continue to bring togs to school daily, particularly as the weather seems fabulous! Welcome to Hazel Ware who starts in Nga Puna this week. Friday - bike day Togs daily Last day of school 18th of December 12:30 Term 1 starts on Wednesday February the 3rd Easter holiday is April 2 till April 6 incl. Friday April 16 is a Staff only day and the beginning of the holidays Term 2 begins on May 3 July 9 is a staff only day and the beginning of the holidays Term 3 begins on July 26 October 1 is a Staff only day and the beginning of the holidays October 18 is the start of Term 4 December 16 is the final day of the 2021 school year Have a lovely week all. Picnic at Edgar Macintosh Park tomorrow? (Friday the 18th) - Message from a parent.

  Kia ora koutou, Please see a lovely invitation for a get together after the assembly tomorrow. Unfortunately the teachers can’t attend as we still have to be ‘at school’ til 3!! Thank you so much to the parents who had this idea  a couple of nga Puna mums are going to have a picnic and paddle at Edgar Macintosh park tomorrow following the final assembly. All welcome. Would you consider sending a message to the nga Puna parents for anyone that is keen?
